About the Book
In a world dominated by screens, notifications, and shallow connection, many children are growing up without the skills they need to communicate confidently, respectfully, and face-to-face. The Face-to-Face Advantage is a practical and thoughtful guide for parents, teachers, and coaches who want to help children stand out—not online, but in real life.
Drawing on decades of experience teaching martial arts and mentoring young people, Russell T. Rosado breaks down communication into teachable, repeatable habits: eye contact, posture, listening, presence, introductions, and simple disciplines that build confidence from the inside out. Through relatable stories, clear instruction, and hands-on exercises, this book shows how small daily practices can shape character, build trust, and unlock opportunities.
This is not a book about persuasion or performance. It is about teaching children how to show up fully, connect genuinely, and engage others with confidence and respect—skills that will serve them for life.
About The Author
Russell Rosado
Russell Rosado is a speaker and former martial arts school owner with over twenty-five years of experience working directly with people. He operated and led martial arts schools for decades, teaching thousands of children and adults—not only martial arts, but also face-to-face communication skills. Many of the principles in this book were taught alongside that instruction.
In addition to his work in the martial arts, Russell spent years as an alarm professional, regularly engaging with individuals and families in their homes. These experiences reinforced the importance of clear communication, trust, and attentive listening—skills shaped through real-world interaction rather than theory.
The Face-to-Face Advantage draws from this lived experience, along with traditional values, to emphasize human skills that remain essential regardless of changing technology.
Russell is an active member of Toastmasters International and speaks on communication, leadership, and personal development.
